Roof wetting and sheep on the spit - 4th August 2018
The new clubhouse was celebrated with a sheep on the spit sponsored by Roland Kennard and all other catering was sponsored by the Quarry Spar. The Chairman of the club, Carl Groenewald thanked all those who had contributed to the rebuilding of the clubhouse after the fire. Honorary past president, Brian Rowlands was requested to say a few words about the history of the club. Brian recounted the various periods of development that the club and the clubhouse had passed through - starting with a very modest wooden hut and 3 clay courts. The current clubhouse had been built in 1974 at a cost of R 7 400 - when shortly afterward a new court had cost R 3 000 - Ron Cooper who was also a past president added his words of appreciation to those of Brian as he is sadly about to leave the district for the Cape.
